Project Overview
This large‑scale green hydrogen demonstration project coupling wind and photovoltaic power is located in Southwest China, sited at a new‑energy industrial base rich in wind and solar resources. With a total construction scale of a 2 MW PEM water electrolysis hydrogen‑production system, the project adopts fully self‑developed and self‑manufactured PEM water electrolysis hydrogen‑production equipment from Tianhuan Hydrogen Source. It builds an integrated zero‑carbon hydrogen‑production system of “photovoltaic power + wind power + electrolytic hydrogen production”, producing 99.97% high‑purity green hydrogen directly with renewable‑energy electricity.
Core components including metallic bipolar plates, membrane electrodes, catalyst layers and the whole‑machine control system are independently developed and manufactured, eliminating reliance on external components. The rated DC power consumption of the equipment is as low as 4.3 kWh/Nm³. It supports rapid dynamic adjustment within an ultra‑wide load range of 5%‑150%, responding to wind‑solar power fluctuations at millisecond level and effectively consuming curtailed wind and solar power. The electrolyser delivers hydrogen at an intrinsic outlet pressure up to 3 MPa, which omits one‑stage hydrogen compression and cuts capital investment and operating energy consumption of the plant station. The site is fully equipped with complete safety systems including hydrogen leakage monitoring, pressure interlock cut‑off, explosion‑proof ventilation and explosion‑suppression fire‑fighting. Supported by a cloud‑based remote operation and maintenance platform, it enables 7×24‑hour unattended operation.
Project Implementation Scope
- Supply, installation and commissioning of the complete 2 MW PEM electrolytic hydrogen‑production equipment;
- Integration of hydrogen‑production‑station process systems, construction of explosion‑proof electrical facilities and automatic control systems;
- Deployment of the digital station‑operation‑and‑maintenance platform and operator training;
- Three‑year on‑site entrusted operation and maintenance services.
Project Outputs & Value
The project produces approximately 220 tons of high‑purity green hydrogen annually. Part of the green hydrogen is supplied to surrounding chemical enterprises to replace grey hydrogen, and the rest is delivered to hydrogen refueling stations for hydrogen‑fueled heavy‑duty trucks and buses. The project has completed green‑hydrogen‑project filing and successfully obtained special subsidies for provincial‑level new‑energy industries, building a benchmark wind‑solar coupled PEM green‑hydrogen project in Southwest China. It verifies the long‑term stable operation performance of high‑power PEM equipment under fluctuating new‑energy working conditions, and provides a replicable and promotable full‑set implementation model for subsequent GW‑scale green‑hydrogen projects matched with large‑scale wind‑solar bases.
